So Cal ASCRS member Lisa McLemore is one of the nation's leading pioneers of a trans-anal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) for rectal cancer. The technique has typically been performed through an abdominal approach, but recently several surgeons nationally have been performing this through a trans-anal approach as well. Learn more here!

ASCRS launches new podcast (available on iTunes and Stitcher) and includes Southern California members. Hosted by ASCRS Social Media Committee Chair Kyle Cologne, the podcast has included two recent episodes by ASCRS So Cal Members Mike Stamos (recently named interim dean of the school of Medicine at UC Irvine), and Andreas Kaiser (Professor of Surgery at USC).

So Cal ASCRS Member Yosef Nasseri  is also part of the Young Surgeon's Committee for ASCRS. He is leading a new program for trainees to participate in a mock oral exam program. All board certified colorectal surgeons have passed a vigorous exam, and he is helping new graduates them prepare for this
